ABOUT AUNT ERNESTINE

Ernestine Brown is a retired educator who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary  Education from Western Connecticut State University (Danbury, Connecticut,) and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Harvard University, (Cambridge, Massachusetts.)
While serving as a classroom teacher and administrator, she opened SOMBA BOOKSTORE, in Hartford, Connecticut, and began storytelling as part of the bookselling experience. Ms. Brown went on to become a consultant for the Connecticut State Department of Education.

When she left Connecticut and retired in Georgia, Ernestine created SOMBA STORYTELLERS, a troupe of 3 people who delighted audiences with tales and lessons from Africa.

She is now expanding her professional talents and opportunities through membership in KUUMBA STORYTELLERS OF GEORGIA, The National Association of Black Storytellers, Southern Order of Storytellers, the National Storytelling Network andWIGS (Women's Imaginative Guild & Storytellers)
